Why Indian Nationals Should Rethink Travel Plans to Iran Amid Rising Tensions
Travel Advisory for Indian Citizens in Iran
Tehran: The Indian diplomatic mission in Iran has issued a warning to its citizens, urging them to reassess their travel plans to the country, particularly for non-essential trips.
The embassy has recommended that Indian nationals stay updated on the latest regional developments and adhere to the advisories provided by Indian authorities prior to any travel.
In an advisory shared on X, the Indian Embassy stated, “Given the recent security developments, Indian citizens should carefully evaluate the situation before planning any non-essential travel to Iran.”
The advisory also mentioned that Indian nationals currently in Iran who wish to leave can utilize available commercial flights and ferry services.
This warning comes in light of the escalating security situation in the region, particularly following Israel's recent military operation dubbed 'Operation Rising Lion' against Iran.
Tensions heightened after Iran retaliated with airstrikes targeting both Israel and a US military base in Qatar.
In response, the US military conducted strikes on three locations in Iran, further complicating the situation as it aimed to assist Israel in dismantling Iran's nuclear capabilities.
The hostilities, which lasted for 12 days, concluded when US President Donald Trump declared a unilateral ceasefire on behalf of Israel.
Israel has stated that its military actions, which commenced on June 13, were intended to thwart Iran's alleged pursuit of nuclear weapons, a claim that Tehran has consistently denied.
