A Call to Action for Regional Languages


Bhubaneswar: During the 123rd Annual Convocation of Utkal Sahitya Samaj held in Cuttack, Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati emphasized the importance of preserving regional languages and their literature in today's world.


He remarked, "Our literary works should not remain mere relics of the past or confined to memories. They need to be a dynamic force that resonates with contemporary society."


Kambhampati also pointed out the significance of the National Education Policy 2020, which advocates for learning in one's mother tongue, and encouraged educational institutions to foster literary research, translation efforts, and digital outreach.


A notable moment of the event was the presentation of the Utkal Ratna Award to Biswabhusan Harichandan, the former Governor of Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, in recognition of his significant contributions to public service and Odia literature.


Harichandan stated, "The pen is mightier than the sword."
