Who Will Lead India in Test Cricket After Rohit Sharma's Retirement?

Leadership Dilemma for Indian Test Team
Following Rohit Sharma's retirement from Test cricket, a pressing question arises: who will take over the captaincy of the Indian Test team? The selectors are likely engaged in extensive discussions regarding this matter. The team boasts several contenders, including Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Jasprit Bumrah. However, it remains to be seen who will be entrusted with the leadership role in this longer format of the game.
India is set to tour England next month for a five-match Test series. Former captain Anil Kumble has expressed his confidence in Jasprit Bumrah as a potential captain for this series.
In an interview with a sports media outlet, Kumble suggested that Bumrah might be selected just for this series, depending on his fitness levels.
Kumble acknowledged the challenges faced by fast bowlers, noting that Bumrah has dealt with injuries and has been on a break since the Australia series, making his return during this IPL season. Nevertheless, Kumble remains in favor of selecting Bumrah.
During the last match against Australia, Bumrah suffered an injury while India was eager to include him in all five Tests. Kumble also recognized that it may not be feasible for Bumrah to participate in all matches during the England tour, emphasizing the need for effective workload management.
Kumble added that in such situations, the vice-captain often steps in to manage the workload.
