Tributes Paid to B R Ambedkar in Parliament


New Delhi: On Tuesday, Vice President C P Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla led a gathering of parliamentarians and citizens in honoring B R Ambedkar during a ceremony marking his 135th birth anniversary.


Each year, numerous individuals gather to pay their respects to one of the principal architects of the Indian Constitution at his statue located within the Parliament complex.


Vice President Radhakrishnan, who also serves as the Chair of the Rajya Sabha, along with PM Modi and Speaker Birla, laid floral tributes at both the portrait and statue of Ambedkar.


During the event, Kharge, who is the Congress president and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, was observed engaging in a lively discussion with Modi.


Prior to this, the Prime Minister, the Speaker, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju were seen conversing at length while waiting for Radhakrishnan's arrival.


Ambedkar, a distinguished jurist, held the position of the first Union Law Minister in independent India.
