Who is the New US Ambassador to India? Sergio Gor's Credentials Presented to President Murmu
Sergio Gor Takes Office as US Ambassador
New Delhi: On Wednesday, US Ambassador Sergio Gor officially presented his credentials to President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, as confirmed by an official announcement.
Gor, who is 38 years old, took the oath of office as the US Ambassador to India in mid-November of the previous year, following his confirmation by the US Senate in October.
Prior to this role, he was the White House personnel director, having been appointed by President Donald Trump as the next envoy to New Delhi in August 2025.
During the ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan, President Murmu accepted Gor's credentials, as stated by the President's office.
In a move to mend the previously strained relations, Gor emphasized on Monday that India holds a crucial position for the United States, and both nations are working diligently to finalize a trade agreement.
The deterioration in India-US relations began when Trump imposed a 50% tariff on India, which included an additional 25% duty on India's purchase of Russian crude oil.
Alongside Gor, Chandradath Singh, the High Commissioner of Trinidad and Tobago, and Robert Zischg, the Ambassador of Austria, also presented their credentials to President Murmu, according to the statement.
