Mohan Charan Majhi, born in 1972 in the Keonjhar district of Odisha, is a member of the Santal tribal community.

He initiated his political journey as a sarpanch in 1997 and ascended to the role of Chief Minister in 2024 following the BJP's victory in the state Assembly elections.
