Nidhi Chhibber Takes Charge as CEO of NITI Aayog


New Delhi: Following the conclusion of BVR Subrahmanyam’s three-year tenure, Nidhi Chhibber has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of NITI Aayog.


Currently, Chhibber holds the position of Director General at the Development Monitoring and Evaluation Office (DMEO) within NITI Aayog.


In her existing role, she has been instrumental in overseeing and assessing the performance of various flagship initiatives launched by the central government.


A member of the 1994 IAS batch from the Chhattisgarh cadre, Chhibber has an extensive career with significant roles.


Previously, she served as the Chairperson of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), where she implemented crucial reforms and managed examination processes.


Chhibber possesses a Master’s degree in History and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.), and she is proficient in both English and Hindi.


She assumes her new responsibilities following the completion of BVR Subrahmanyam's term as CEO.


Subrahmanyam, an IAS officer from the 1987 batch of the Chhattisgarh cadre, has enjoyed a distinguished administrative career spanning over thirty years.


Throughout his service, he has held several significant positions in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Jammu & Kashmir.


He also spent time working with the World Bank and served as Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, as well as in the Prime Minister’s Office.


In Jammu and Kashmir, he was the Chief Secretary, and in Chhattisgarh, he served as Principal Secretary.


During his tenure, Subrahmanyam focused on driving policy reforms aimed at enhancing state governance and advancing digital transformation to realize India's vision of a developed nation by 2047 (Viksit Bharat @2047).


NITI Aayog serves as the government's leading policy think tank, established to replace the Planning Commission and promote 'cooperative federalism.'


Founded on January 1, 2015, it advocates for a grassroots development strategy, involving state governments in the policymaking process to meet national objectives.
