Patna: On Tuesday, Samrat Choudhary was appointed as the leader of the BJP legislature party, as announced by Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

The BJP, which holds the majority in the 243-member Assembly with 89 MLAs, swiftly chose Choudhary for this role following the resignation of Nitish Kumar, the JD(U) leader who recently became a Rajya Sabha MP. Kumar submitted his resignation to Governor Syed Ata Hasnain.
