Protest at Jantar Mantar: A Call for Change
In New Delhi, Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), participated in a significant protest at Jantar Mantar on Saturday, which was held under strict security measures.
The demonstration attracted hundreds, primarily young people, many of whom donned cockroach masks and carried flowers. Students from various schools were also present, accompanied by their parents.
The crowd consisted mainly of school and college students, along with young professionals.
Participants chanted slogans demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Dipke, who arrived in the capital early, encouraged his supporters to remain disciplined and peaceful during the protest.
Activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has voiced his support for the movement, announced that he would begin a six-week hunger strike if Dipke were to be arrested.
On social media, Dipke expressed his enthusiasm for meeting supporters at Jantar Mantar, inviting them to bring books and the national flag. He also suggested that participants offer flowers to police officers as a sign of compassion and gratitude, stressing that the movement should be rooted in love and peace.
The CJP, a youth-driven online initiative, organized the protest to demand accountability regarding alleged irregularities in various examinations and recruitment processes, including NEET, CBSE, CUET, and SSC tests.
In preparation for the protest, security measures were intensified across the capital. Police reported that extra personnel were stationed at Indira Gandhi International Airport, border crossings, and other sensitive areas.
Over 1,000 police officers were deployed throughout New Delhi and other key locations as a precautionary measure.
Ahead of the protest, the CJP shared guidelines urging participants to uphold non-violent behavior and avoid confrontations. Dipke reiterated these instructions, highlighting the importance of respectful interactions with law enforcement during the event.
