PMK Unveils Candidates for Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections


Chennai: The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), under the leadership of Anbumani Ramadoss, has revealed its candidates for the last 15 constituencies assigned to it within the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for the forthcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.


Initially, the party was allocated 18 seats in the alliance, with candidates for three constituencies already announced. Notably, Sowmiya Anbumani, the spouse of PMK President Anbumani Ramadoss, will contest from the Dharmapuri constituency, emphasizing the party's commitment to its strongholds.


In the Perambur constituency of Chennai, PMK treasurer Thilagavathy will represent the party. This area is anticipated to see a significant contest, as Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay is also running for the same seat.


In an interesting turn of events, Anbu Cholan, who had previously indicated he would not run, has now been nominated for the Tiruporur constituency, where he will compete against advocate K. Balu.


Additionally, in the reserved Kattumannarkoil constituency, PMK has put forth a candidate to challenge VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan, setting the stage for a closely watched election.


The party has also made tactical adjustments in its existing constituencies. Mailam MLA Sivakumar has been reassigned to contest from Vikravandi, while former AIADMK minister and Rajya Sabha MP, C.V. Shanmugam, will now run from Mailam.


Moreover, Mettur MLA, C. Sadasivam, has been nominated for Salem North, indicating a strategic reshuffle aimed at enhancing the party's electoral prospects.


In other significant constituencies, Dr. Tamilarasi Adhiyaman, the State Secretary of the Pattali Mahila Sangam, will contest from Vridhachalam, while former MLA Karthi has been selected for Salem West.


Party State Vice-President Padi Selvam will run from Pennagaram, C.R. Bhaskaran from Polur, and Joint General Secretary Vaithi from Jayankondam.


Furthermore, advocate K. Saravanan has been nominated for Sholingur, Siddhamalli Palaniswami for Mayiladuthurai, P. Maheshkumar for Uthiramerur, and A.P. Chezhiyan for Rishivandiyam.


With these candidate announcements, the PMK has finalized its list for all 18 constituencies, indicating its preparedness for a competitive electoral contest within the NDA alliance in Tamil Nadu.
