Review Meeting on Koraput Bypass Construction

By Narendra Raut, OP

Koraput: A significant review meeting regarding the construction of the Koraput Bypass took place at the District Collector’s office on Monday evening. Chaired by Collector Manoj Satyawan Mahajan, the meeting included various public representatives and officials who discussed the longstanding issues surrounding the project.

The primary focus of the meeting was to assess the current status of the bypass initiative, its necessity for alleviating traffic congestion in Koraput town, and the obstacles hindering its progress. Local representatives voiced their concerns about the growing number of vehicles on the town's main roads, especially the heavy transport trucks that navigate through narrow areas, leading to traffic jams and safety hazards.

They highlighted that the bypass would act as a crucial solution by redirecting highway traffic, thereby reducing pollution and the risk of accidents in the town. The Collector reassured all parties involved that the administration is dedicated to overcoming the technical and land acquisition challenges that have stalled the project's commencement. He stressed the need for collaboration among government departments, elected officials, and the community to ensure the bypass is completed promptly.

The meeting wrapped up with a collective agreement to accelerate follow-up actions and compile a comprehensive progress report for submission to higher authorities for urgent review.

Attendees included Koraput MLA Raghuram Machha, Koraput Municipality Chairman Lalat Ranjan Sethi, Block Chairperson Namita Majhi, and Deputy Collector Premlal Hial, among others.
