What’s Behind the CJP's Call for a Tricolour Protest in Delhi?

Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the Cockroach Janta Party, has called for a protest in New Delhi's Central Park on October 16, urging supporters to wave the Tricolour in response to the arrest of two party members. Dipke emphasizes that displaying the national flag is not a crime and encourages those unable to attend to organize local marches. The arrested members, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, are currently in judicial custody following a trespassing incident at Jantar Mantar. CJP Founder Calls for Protest in Delhi

New Delhi: On Wednesday, Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), called on supporters to assemble at Central Park in Connaught Place, New Delhi, to wave the national flag in response to the detention of his party's co-conveners, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka.

In a video shared on the social media platform X, Dipke referred to the upcoming demonstration as 'Lehra do Tiranga'.

"As many of you are aware, Saurav and Ashutosh have been imprisoned merely for displaying the Tricolour. I urge all patriots who cherish our flag to join me at Central Park in Connaught Place at 5 p.m. on October 16, bringing the Tricolour along," he stated.

"We will gather to demonstrate that waving the Tiranga is not a crime," he emphasized.

Dipke also encouraged those unable to travel to the capital to organize a 'Tiranga march' in their local areas, asserting that it is essential to show the authorities that the Tricolour represents pride and that displaying it is not a crime.

"I might face arrest after this, but I am not worried. My Tiranga is my pride, and I will wave it regardless of the consequences," the CJP leader declared.

Earlier that day, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were placed in five-day judicial custody related to a trespassing incident at Jantar Mantar, while another CJP member, Ajinkya Shinde, was released on a personal bond.

Sources indicated that Das and Ranka are being held in separate cells at Tihar Jail, with Das in Jail No. 2 and Ranka in Jail No. 4.

Advocate Abhisht Hela, representing the detained CJP leaders, confirmed their five-day judicial custody.

The trio was arrested for trespassing at Jantar Mantar, which is no longer designated as a protest site, and faced charges including trespassing, bond violation, and obstructing public officials. They were presented before a Magistrate at Mandir Marg in New Delhi on Wednesday morning.
