Investigation Update on Air India Crash
Mumbai: The preliminary investigation report from the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) regarding the tragic Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad is anticipated shortly, as stated by Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu on Friday. He highlighted the ministry's commitment to maintaining transparency and accountability throughout the investigation.
On June 12, Air India's Boeing 787-8, operating flight AI 171 to London Gatwick, tragically crashed into a medical hostel complex shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad, resulting in the loss of 260 lives, including 241 individuals aboard the aircraft. Remarkably, one passenger managed to survive the incident.
Naidu remarked, "The AAIB is diligently working on the investigation... it is their responsibility to conduct this inquiry." This comment came in response to inquiries about the expected release date of the preliminary report.
The minister assured that the investigation process is being conducted with utmost transparency and accountability during a conference.
According to the standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the AAIB is required to submit a preliminary report within 30 days following the accident.
This incident marks the first fatal accident involving the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which is known for being a best-selling wide-body aircraft, resulting in a total hull loss.
On June 26, the ministry released a status report concerning the crash.
