Monsoon Forecast for India


New Delhi: According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the seasonal rainfall from the Southwest monsoon in India is projected to reach 90% of the long-term average this year.


The Northeast region is expected to experience normal rainfall during the monsoon, while other areas across the country may face below-average precipitation, as indicated by the weather agency.


This forecast was part of the IMD's second outlook for the Southwest monsoon.


Previously, in its initial forecast released on April 13, the IMD had estimated that rainfall could be around 92% of the long-period average for this monsoon season.
