S Jaishankar Embarks on a Diplomatic Journey

New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has commenced a six-day diplomatic visit to France and Luxembourg, aimed at discussing various bilateral and global issues of shared interest.

During his time in Paris, he is scheduled to meet with French officials, including Foreign Minister Jean Noel Barrot, as confirmed by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

This visit occurs amid rising international tensions following a military operation by the US that resulted in the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his spouse.

The MEA has indicated that Jaishankar and Barrot will review advancements in the India-France strategic partnership and address significant global matters.

Additionally, they are expected to lay the groundwork for French President Emmanuel Macron's upcoming visit to India next month for the AI Summit.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had previously co-chaired the AI Summit with Macron in Paris last February.

Jaishankar will also participate in the 31st French Ambassadors' Conference, as outlined by the MEA regarding his Paris engagements.

Following his time in France, Jaishankar will travel to Luxembourg to engage in discussions with Foreign Minister Xavier Bettel, who also serves as the deputy prime minister, along with other senior officials.

In Luxembourg, he will have the opportunity to connect with members of the Indian community.
