What to Expect from PM Modi's Visit to France and the G7 Summit
Modi's Arrival in France for Key Discussions
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has landed in France on Saturday, where he is set to engage in discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron and participate in the G-7 Summit.
During the initial phase of his visit, Modi will meet with Macron on Sunday and jointly launch the 'Bharat Innovates' initiative, which aims to connect leading innovation startups and venture capitalists from India, France, and beyond.
The two leaders are expected to evaluate the comprehensive India-France bilateral relationship, which was recently upgraded to a Special Global Strategic Partnership.
Modi emphasized that India will not only represent its own interests but also advocate for the aspirations of the Global South during the G7 Summit.
In a statement made before his week-long journey to France and Slovakia, Modi noted that India's participation in the G7 signifies the confidence that global partners have in the nation and its growing international stature.
Following his engagements in France, Modi will head to Slovakia for a state visit on June 14-15, where he will converse with President Peter Pellegrini and Prime Minister Robert Fico in Bratislava, as well as meet with business leaders.
The G7 Summit is scheduled to take place in Evian, France, on June 16 and 17.
