Prime Minister Modi's Two-Day Visit to Malaysia

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a two-day trip to Malaysia starting Saturday, aimed at enhancing bilateral relations in trade, investment, energy, and maritime security.

This marks Modi's third visit to Malaysia and his first since the India-Malaysia relationship was upgraded to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in August 2024.

During his stay, he will engage in discussions with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, as confirmed by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) regarding his trip scheduled for February 7 to 8.

Additionally, Modi plans to meet with members of the Indian community and representatives from various industries and businesses.

The 10th India-Malaysia CEO Forum will also take place during the prime minister's visit.

According to the MEA, "India and Malaysia have a long-standing friendship rooted in historical, civilizational, and cultural ties."

The relationship is further bolstered by a significant Indian diaspora in Malaysia, which numbers around 2.9 million, making it the third largest globally.

This upcoming visit presents a chance for both leaders to assess the full spectrum of bilateral cooperation, including trade, investment, defense, security, maritime collaboration, digital and financial technology, energy, healthcare, education, culture, tourism, and interpersonal connections.

It will also provide an opportunity to outline future engagements for mutual benefit.
