Prime Minister Modi's Two-Day Tour: Key Highlights


New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a two-day journey to Bihar, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh starting Friday, where he will inaugurate various projects and participate in a mass yoga event for the International Day of Yoga.


On Friday, PM Modi will first arrive in Siwan, Bihar, to lay the groundwork and inaugurate several development initiatives around noon, followed by an address to the attendees.


Later, he will head to Bhubaneswar, Odisha, to preside over a state-level event celebrating the first anniversary of the Odisha government at approximately 4:15 p.m. During this visit, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation for projects exceeding Rs 18,600 crore.


On June 21, the Prime Minister will join the International Yoga Day celebrations with a mass yoga demonstration at 6:30 a.m. in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, where he will also speak to the participants.


In a post on X, PM Modi mentioned, 'In the next two days, I will be attending programs in Bihar, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh, covering a wide array of sectors.'


As per a government announcement, in Bihar, he will launch the new Vaishali–Deoria railway line project valued at over Rs 400 crore and introduce a new train service on this route. Additionally, he will flag off the Vande Bharat Express connecting Patliputra and Gorakhpur via Muzaffarpur and Bettiah, enhancing connectivity in North Bihar.


In line with the 'Make in India – Make for the World' initiative, the Prime Minister will also flag off a modern locomotive manufactured at the Marhowra Plant, destined for export to Guinea. This marks the first locomotive produced at this facility, featuring advanced technology such as high-horsepower engines and regenerative braking systems.


To support the conservation of the Ganga River, PM Modi will inaugurate six Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) under the Namami Gange project, with an investment of over Rs 1,800 crore, aimed at serving the local population.


He will also lay the foundation for water supply, sanitation, and STPs worth over Rs 3,000 crore across various towns in Bihar, ensuring access to clean drinking water.


In a significant enhancement of the region's power infrastructure, the Prime Minister will initiate a 500 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Bihar, which will be installed at 15 grid substations, including Muzaffarpur and Siwan. This system will help reduce electricity costs for distribution companies by allowing them to feed stored energy back into the grid.


Furthermore, PM Modi will distribute the first installment to over 53,600 beneficiaries of the PMAY U scheme in Bihar and will hand over keys to some beneficiaries during the Grih Pravesh Ceremony for more than 6,600 completed houses.


After his engagements in Bihar, PM Modi will travel to Odisha to chair the state-level function in Bhubaneswar, marking the completion of one year of the Odisha government.


He will inaugurate and lay the foundation for multiple development projects worth over Rs 18,600 crore, focusing on essential sectors such as drinking water, irrigation, health infrastructure, and rural roads.


In a historic move, the Prime Minister will flag off new train services that will connect the Boudh district to the national railway network for the first time.


To promote clean energy, he will also launch 100 electric buses under the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) system, contributing to a sustainable urban mobility framework.


PM Modi will unveil the Odisha Vision Document, which outlines a strategic roadmap for inclusive growth as Odisha approaches its centenary as India's first linguistic state in 2036 and the 100th anniversary of India's independence in 2047.


In honor of notable Odias, he will introduce the 'Baraputra Aitihya Gram Yojana' initiative, aimed at transforming their birthplaces into cultural memorials.


Celebrating the achievements of over 16.50 lakh Lakhpati Didis, symbols of prosperity in the state, the Prime Minister will recognize women achievers from across Odisha.


On International Yoga Day, PM Modi will lead the national celebration in Andhra Pradesh, participating in the Common Yoga Protocol session at Visakhapatnam's beachfront, alongside nearly five lakh participants.


According to the media release, Yoga Sangam events will occur at over 3.5 lakh locations across India, with special contests like Yoga with Family and youth initiatives under Yoga Unplugged to encourage widespread participation.


This year's theme, 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health,' emphasizes the connection between human and planetary health, reflecting India's philosophy of 'Sarve Santu Niramaya' (May all be free from disease).


Since the UN General Assembly adopted India's proposal in 2015 to observe June 21 as International Day of Yoga, PM Modi has celebrated this occasion from various locations, including New Delhi and New York.
