In a video shared on social media, Meloni was heard saying, "Prime Minister Modi brought a delightful gift, a very, very good toffee — Melody."

The term 'Melodi', a combination of Modi and Meloni's names, was first introduced by the Italian leader during the COP28 summit in Dubai in 2023 and gained popularity on social media due to their friendly exchanges at international events.

Meloni had previously shared a photo with Modi on social media, captioning it with the hashtag 'Melodi' and stating, "Good friends at COP28."

Modi's visit to Rome on Tuesday marks the conclusion of his five-nation tour, which included stops in the UAE, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy from May 15-20.

He is in Italy at Meloni's invitation to enhance bilateral relations in sectors such as trade, defense, clean energy, and technology.

The two leaders have fostered a strong connection in recent years, with Meloni also attending the G20 Summit in India in 2023.
