Ongoing Evacuation Efforts Amid Rising Tensions

New Delhi: In light of the escalating military conflict between Israel and Iran, Reuven Azar, the Israeli Ambassador to India, has confirmed that Israel is maintaining "constant communication" with India's Ministry of External Affairs regarding the evacuation of Indian citizens from Israel.

During an interview at the agency's headquarters, Azar emphasized the seriousness with which they regard messages from the Indian government, ensuring the safety of all Indian nationals.

His comments were made in response to inquiries about the evacuation process for Indians living in Israel amidst the rising tensions.

"We are in ongoing discussions with the MEA concerning all matters related to civilian evacuations. Our cooperation has been consistent since the onset of the conflict, and we have established open channels for communication. We take every message from the Indian government very seriously to ensure the safety of Indian citizens," Azar stated.

The Indian Embassy in Israel has been proactive, issuing advisories since the conflict began, urging citizens to exercise caution.

As the situation deteriorated, India made the decision to facilitate the evacuation of its nationals who wish to leave Israel due to the escalating security concerns.

This decision was announced shortly after an Iranian missile struck a hospital in Beersheba, Israel.

"In light of the recent developments between Israel and Iran, the Indian government has opted to evacuate those Indian nationals who wish to depart from Israel," the Ministry of External Affairs stated.

"Travel arrangements will be made for their journey from Israel to India, initially via land borders and subsequently by air," it added.

On Wednesday, India initiated 'Operation Sindhu' to assist in the evacuation of its citizens from Iran, as the conflict with Israel showed no signs of resolution.

Earlier, on June 17, Azar had indicated that Israel would continue its efforts to "degrade" Iran's nuclear and missile capabilities.

He also expressed a preference for a diplomatic resolution to the ongoing hostilities.

In recent days, Israel has conducted multiple strikes in Iran as part of 'Operation Rising Lion,' with Iran responding with its own military actions.
