Opposition MPs Rally in Parliament Over Allegations

New Delhi: On Wednesday, a group of Opposition Members of Parliament, including Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge and general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, staged a protest within the Parliament House Complex. Their demonstration was aimed at addressing the alleged misappropriation of donations intended for the Ram temple in Ayodhya, as well as the reported police brutality against student demonstrators last month.

The MPs called for Home Minister Amit Shah to appear in Parliament and provide clarity regarding the police actions taken against students during their march on July 20, which was related to the NEET paper leak controversy.

Holding placards, the protesting MPs gathered in front of the Makar Dwar of Parliament, chanting slogans such as 'Amit Shah, come to the House', 'Amit Shah, apologize', and 'Where will we find the donation thief? At the BJP office!'.

The demonstration saw participation from various Opposition parties, primarily the Congress, Samajwadi Party, and TMC, who stood behind a large banner that read 'Who stole the donations?'. They vocally criticized the BJP.

When questioned about the ongoing deadlock in Parliament, Priyanka Gandhi remarked, 'Who do you believe is responsible for this? Is the Home Minister not accountable to the public when he orders police to use batons and pellet guns against students, or even AK-47s in Bihar? Should we remain silent like you all (the media)?'

The INDIA coalition has committed to holding the government accountable regarding the alleged theft of Ram temple donations and the police's treatment of young protesters.

For over three weeks, they have been demanding Shah's presence in the House and a formal statement from him.

Despite the government's proposal for a debate and Shah's response, the impasse continues, with the Congress insisting that the Home Minister's reply must specifically address who authorized the use of pellet guns against students.

Additionally, the Congress has made it clear that their demand for a discussion on the alleged misappropriation of funds at the Ram temple is 'non-negotiable'.
