Samarth Singh Surrenders Amid Dowry Harassment Allegations

Jabalpur: Samarth Singh, the husband of Twisha Sharma, who tragically passed away last week in Bhopal under suspicious circumstances, has turned himself in at the Jabalpur district court, according to his attorney.

This decision came shortly after he retracted his anticipatory bail request submitted to the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

His lawyer, Mrigendra Singh, confirmed that Singh arrived at the court to surrender.

The withdrawal of his bail application was made before a single bench led by Justice Avanindra Kumar Singh, as stated by his counsel Jaydeep Kaurav.

With this withdrawal, Singh had no choice but to surrender to the authorities.

The anticipatory bail plea was initially filed on Thursday after a lower court denied his request the previous week.

Singh's mother, Giribala Singh, who is a retired district judge and currently chairs the Bhopal Consumer Court, was granted anticipatory bail last week despite being named in the FIR related to the case.

Twisha Sharma, aged 33, was discovered hanging at her home in the Katara Hills area of Bhopal on May 12. Her family has accused her in-laws of dowry harassment and contributing to her suicide, while the Singh family alleges she struggled with drug addiction.

An FIR has been filed against Samarth Singh and his mother under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Dowry Prohibition Act.

Authorities had previously announced a reward of Rs 30,000 for information leading to Singh's capture and sought to revoke his passport.
