Operation Sindoor was initiated as a direct response to the tragic Pahalgam terror attack, leading Indian forces to execute precise strikes against various terror infrastructures located in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir (PoK).
Following the operation's launch, the Indian Army posted on X at 1:51 AM on May 7, stating, "Justice is served. Jai Hind!"
In a message marking the anniversary, Modi expressed, "A year ago, during #OperationSindoor, our armed forces demonstrated their bravery and provided a strong response to those who attacked our citizens. Every Indian takes pride in our armed forces."
He encouraged everyone to change their social media display pictures to a shared image featuring the now-iconic logo of Operation Sindoor, adorned with the Indian flag.

After the Indian forces initiated the operation in the early hours of May 7, Pakistan retaliated with offensives against India, leading to further counter-offensives by India, all conducted under the banner of Operation Sindoor.
The military engagement between the two nuclear-armed nations lasted nearly 88 hours before a mutual understanding was reached on the evening of May 10.
Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat remarked in Hindi that Operation Sindoor, under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, sent a clear message globally that India responds decisively to threats against its citizens.
"Operation Sindoor symbolizes India's resolute willpower, military strength, and unwavering commitment to national security," Shekhawat stated.
"ऑपरेशन सिंदूर" भारत की निर्णायक इच्छाशक्ति, सामरिक क्षमता और राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा के प्रति अटूट प्रतिबद्धता का प्रतीक है। इसके एक वर्ष पूर्ण होने पर सभी देशवासियों को हृदयतल से बधाई।

On the anniversary of the Pahalgam attack, the Army reiterated on X that for actions against India, "the response is assured," accompanied by a digital poster featuring three armed soldiers against a backdrop of a large red circle, captioned "OPERATION SINDOOR CONTINUES..."
One of the 'Os' in 'SINDOOR' was represented by a bowl containing a dash of 'sindoor' (vermilion).
