Forensic Findings on Atishi's Video Controversy

New Delhi: The controversy surrounding a video clip involving former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi took a new turn when Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta presented the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report, confirming that the video had not been altered or tampered with.

During a press briefing, Gupta explained that on January 8, 2026, the Opposition raised concerns about the authenticity of the Assembly session's video footage. In response, the recording was sent to the FSL for examination. He emphasized that the report is a verbatim account of the session, with both audio and video provided to the laboratory in accordance with all relevant regulations.

Gupta highlighted the FSL's findings, stating, "The report confirms the video’s authenticity, indicating no alterations or manipulations were made."

He noted that the Delhi Assembly had unanimously agreed to the forensic examination, but unexpected developments arose during the process.

On January 9, it was revealed that the Punjab government had already conducted its own investigation, completed a report, and filed an FIR. Gupta asserted that the forensic report clarified the situation, confirming no tampering had occurred.

The Speaker expressed concern over the implications of the report, suggesting that a political party had misused government resources, undermining the dignity of the Gurus. He urged the Leader of the Opposition to meet with him to address the issue, warning that failure to do so would lead to serious consequences.

Gupta also criticized the forensic examination conducted by the Punjab government, questioning the lack of clarity regarding the parameters and methodology used in their investigation.

He remarked on the Opposition's conduct, stating that their absence from the Assembly during critical discussions was inappropriate.

The political conflict between the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) intensified following a Punjab court's acceptance of the forensic report related to the video. The court's ruling led to accusations from both parties, with the video ordered to be removed from social media after it was determined that the term 'guru' was absent from the original audio shared by BJP minister Kapil Mishra.
