Putin Expresses Gratitude to Modi for Ukraine Conflict Dialogue


New Delhi: On Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his role in addressing the ongoing Ukraine crisis. He remarked on the 'very informative and useful conversation' they had since his arrival in New Delhi the previous evening.


Putin stated, "I am grateful for the invitation and for the pleasant evening we shared, which included a constructive and informative dialogue. We discussed in detail the current situation in Ukraine and our collaborative efforts with various partners, including the United States, to seek a peaceful resolution to this crisis," during his opening remarks at the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit held at Hyderabad House.


He continued, thanking Modi for his attention and efforts towards resolving the conflict, while acknowledging the deep historical ties between India and Russia.


Putin emphasized, "Regardless of how we describe our relationship, what truly matters is its substance, which is significant. We greatly value this, and we recognize that you, esteemed Prime Minister, are dedicating considerable personal attention to this matter."


He noted the progress made in bilateral relations over recent years, highlighting the expanding opportunities for cooperation as both nations' economies grow.


"We are exploring new fields in high technology, aviation, space, and artificial intelligence. Our military-technical cooperation is built on trust, and we aim to advance in all these areas, which further emphasizes the strength and trust inherent in our relationship," Putin remarked.


As the meeting commenced, he acknowledged the effective collaboration between teams from Moscow and New Delhi in preparation for his visit.


"Several important documents have been prepared, and we have the chance to discuss them further. I am confident that we will conclude today’s discussions positively," he concluded.


Earlier, PM Modi warmly welcomed President Putin at Hyderabad House, reinforcing the India-Russia Special and Privileged Partnership during the 23rd Annual Summit.


With a long-standing bond, the two leaders engaged in extensive discussions aimed at enhancing bilateral relations.


On the second and final day of his State Visit, Putin's schedule is full, including a business event and a banquet hosted by President Droupadi Murmu in the evening.


He will also participate in a business event at Bharat Mandapam, focusing on boosting commercial and investment ties.
