PM Modi Reflects on India's Economic Journey

New Delhi: During a recent address at the centenary celebration of Shri Ram College of Commerce, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the significant progress India has made since 2013, transitioning from a state of policy paralysis to one of dynamic policymaking. He noted that those who once labeled India as part of the 'fragile five' are now struggling to accept the nation's impressive 7.8% economic growth.

Recalling his previous visit to SRCC in 2013 as Gujarat's chief minister, Modi remarked on the lasting impact of his speech from that time. He expressed his belief that the glass is not just half full or half empty, but rather completely filled with potential.

At that time, he noted, the nation was engulfed in despair, with rampant inflation and corruption, and terrorism was unchecked. However, he emphasized that today, the tide has turned against terrorism, and the Indian army is prepared to respond decisively to threats.

Modi pointed out that while India was once seen as the 'Fragile Five', it is now recognized as the fastest-growing major economy. He acknowledged skepticism surrounding initiatives like 'Make in India' but reaffirmed that the current GDP growth amidst global challenges showcases India's resilience.

He encouraged the youth to reflect on the stark contrast between the headlines of 2013 and the present, emphasizing the importance of understanding the past to appreciate the current achievements.

In his address, Modi praised SRCC for its role in shaping generations of students, referring to its alumni as 'OGs' to resonate with the younger audience. He also commemorated the occasion by unveiling a special Rs 100 coin.

This visit aligns with the BJP's efforts to engage with the younger demographic, following a previous meeting with the college's governing body earlier this year.
