Strengthening India-Israel Relations


New Delhi: On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, focusing on enhancing their strategic partnership.


The leaders also addressed the current regional dynamics and reiterated their commitment to combat terrorism.


PM Modi shared on X, "It was great to connect with my friend, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and extend New Year wishes to him and the people of Israel. We explored avenues to further bolster the India-Israel Strategic Partnership in the upcoming year."


He added, "We exchanged insights on the regional landscape and reaffirmed our collective determination to tackle terrorism more effectively."


On December 17, 2025, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar visited Netanyahu in Jerusalem, delivering PM Modi's warm regards.


Their discussions included enhancing collaboration between India and Israel in various sectors such as technology, economy, skills development, connectivity, and security.


In a post on X, EAM Jaishankar expressed, "I greatly valued the opportunity to meet Prime Minister Netanyahu in Jerusalem this evening. I conveyed PM Modi's warm wishes and discussed deepening our cooperation in technology, economy, skills, connectivity, and security. I appreciated his insights on regional and global issues, and I am confident our Strategic Partnership will continue to strengthen."


Following their meeting, PM Netanyahu also shared on X, "This evening, I met with India's External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, in my office in Jerusalem."


EAM Jaishankar further met with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, where they reviewed the progress of the India-Israel strategic partnership.


Jaishankar noted on X, "I was honored to meet President Isaac Herzog of Israel today. I conveyed warm greetings from President Droupadi Murmu and PM Narendra Modi. We discussed our Strategic Partnership and its ongoing enhancement, reaffirming India's unwavering support for lasting peace in the region."


Earlier, on December 10, PM Modi had a phone call with Netanyahu, where they exchanged views on the West Asia situation.


During their discussions, both leaders emphasized strengthening the India-Israel Strategic Partnership and reiterated their zero-tolerance stance on terrorism.


A press release from the Prime Minister's office stated, "PM Modi reaffirmed India's commitment to efforts aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace in the region."


Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the ongoing momentum in the India-Israel Strategic Partnership and committed to further enhancing these ties for mutual benefit.


"The two leaders condemned terrorism in all its forms and reiterated their zero-tolerance approach towards it," the PMO noted.


"They also discussed the West Asia situation, with PM Modi reaffirming India's support for initiatives aimed at a just and lasting peace in the region, including the prompt implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan," it added.
