Modi Concludes Significant Visit to Israel
Jerusalem: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has returned to India following a two-day visit to Israel, where he and Israeli leaders enhanced their longstanding relationship into a special strategic partnership.
This marks Modi's second trip to Israel in the past nine years.
During his stay, he engaged in discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog.
Following their talks, both nations signed multiple agreements and committed to collaboration in civil and nuclear energy sectors.
The leaders also pledged to strengthen their defense ties and are working towards finalizing a beneficial free trade agreement. Modi emphasized the importance of the Gaza peace initiative, stating that humanity should never be a casualty of conflict.
The discussions also covered the India-Middle East Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) and cooperation within the I2U2 framework (India-Israel-UAE-USA).
In a landmark speech to the Knesset, Israel's Parliament, Modi referred to the Gaza Peace Initiative as a pathway to achieving a "just and lasting peace" in the region, while expressing solidarity with Israel and declaring that "terrorism anywhere threatens peace everywhere."
In recognition of his significant role in fortifying India-Israel relations, Modi was awarded the 'Speaker of the Knesset Medal', becoming the first foreign leader to receive this prestigious honor.
On his final day, Modi visited the Yad Vashem memorial, paying his respects to Holocaust victims.
