What Did India's External Affairs Minister Discuss with UAE and Armenia Amid West Asia Tensions?

Diplomatic Engagements Amid Rising Tensions
New Delhi: On Monday, India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar engaged in discussions with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the UAE, focusing on the evolving circumstances in West Asia and the significance of diplomatic efforts.
The geopolitical landscape in West Asia is increasingly complex, particularly with the heightened military confrontations between Israel and Iran.
Jaishankar shared on X, stating, "Had a telecon with DPM & FM @ABZayed of UAE on the current situation in West Asia and the role of diplomacy. Agreed to remain in touch."
Additionally, he communicated with Ararat Mirzoyan, Armenia's Foreign Minister, to discuss regional developments and their collaborative efforts.
In his post, Jaishankar noted, "Spoke with FM @AraratMirzoyan of Armenia. Discussed ongoing developments in the region and our close cooperation."
Recently, Israel executed strikes aimed at Iran's nuclear and military facilities, escalating tensions and provoking a response from Iran.
India expressed its "deep concern" regarding the recent escalations and is actively monitoring the situation, urging both nations to refrain from further provocations.
In light of these rising tensions, Jaishankar also reached out to his counterparts in both Israel and Iran to address the situation.
He mentioned receiving a call from Gideon Sa'ar, Israel's Foreign Minister, and later had a conversation with Iran's Foreign Minister, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi.
