What Did Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi Say About India's Stance on Terrorism?

Army Chief's Strong Message on Terrorism

During a recent address at the Kargil War Memorial, Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi emphasized that the surgical strikes executed in Operation Sindoor were a definitive warning to Pakistan regarding its support for terrorism.

He stated, "Operation Sindoor was not just a response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which deeply affected the nation, but also a clear message to Pakistan. This time, India chose to act decisively rather than merely mourn."

Speaking on Vijay Diwas, General Dwivedi highlighted that a robust response to threats has become the new standard for India.

"With the trust of our citizens and the support from the government, the Indian Army delivered a strong surgical response. Any entity that threatens India's unity, integrity, or the safety of its people will face a fitting retaliation. This is the new norm for India," he asserted.

He revealed that during Operation Sindoor, the army successfully neutralized nine high-value terrorist targets in Pakistan without causing any collateral damage.

"India achieved a significant victory by effectively targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan during Operation Sindoor, thwarting aggressive actions from Pakistan," he noted.

General Dwivedi remarked that India had extended an olive branch for peace, but Pakistan responded with cowardice.

"The actions taken by Pakistan on May 8 and 9 were met with a strong response. Our army's air defense proved to be an unbreachable barrier against missiles and drones," he added.

He expressed confidence that the Indian Army is on the path to becoming a formidable force globally.

"The establishment of Rudra, a comprehensive brigade, has been approved. This unit will integrate infantry, mechanized infantry, armored units, artillery, special forces, and unmanned aerial units to enhance logistics and combat support," he explained.

Additionally, the army has created a specialized strike force known as the Bhairav Light Commando Unit, which is always prepared to catch the enemy off guard at the border.

General Dwivedi mentioned, "Every infantry battalion will now include a drone platoon. The Shaktiban regiment in artillery will be equipped with drones, counter-drone systems, and loitering munitions. Each regiment will have a composite battery with these capabilities."

He assured that the army's capabilities will significantly expand in the near future as they enhance air defense systems with domestically produced missiles.

Reflecting on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's presence at last year's silver jubilee celebrations, he noted that such attendance signifies that Army Day is a celebration for the entire nation.

"The safety of our nation is ensured by the sacrifices of our heroes at these icy heights. We honor their dedication and bravery, remembering those who gave their lives for our peaceful existence," he concluded.
