Explosion Rocks Samba District

Jammu: A blast of unknown origin occurred early Monday morning outside a residence in Samba district, Jammu and Kashmir, prompting officials to investigate its cause.

The explosion was reported around 2 a.m. near the home of Sarpanch Jai Ram Sharma in Gawala Talab village, located approximately 10 kilometers from the international border.

According to officials, the blast severely damaged the gate and compound wall of the residence, but fortunately, there were no reported injuries.

Law enforcement and forensic teams have arrived at the scene to collect evidence and determine the nature of the explosion.

An FIR has been filed at the local police station regarding the incident, and further information is pending.

The international border in this union territory spans 240 kilometers and is monitored by the Border Security Force (BSF), which is tasked with preventing illegal activities such as infiltration and drug smuggling from the Pakistan side.

Terrorist groups have reportedly utilized drones, allegedly with support from Pakistani forces, to transport weapons, cash, and drugs into India.

These items are typically retrieved by over-ground workers associated with these groups and subsequently delivered to terrorists to fuel ongoing violence in Jammu and Kashmir. To combat this threat, the BSF has implemented advanced anti-drone technology along the border.

In addition to the international border, Jammu and Kashmir features a 740-kilometer Line of Control (LoC) that runs through various districts, including Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora in the Valley, as well as Poonch, Rajouri, and parts of Jammu. The Army is responsible for securing the LoC.
