West Indies Celebrate Historic ODI Victory

Trinidad: In a remarkable display, Shai Hope's unbeaten century and Jayden Seales' impressive six-wicket haul propelled the West Indies to their first ODI series victory over Pakistan since 1991, culminating in a commanding 202-run win during the final match at the Brian Lara Cricket Stadium.

Hope's stellar performance included an unbeaten 120 runs, allowing the West Indies to set a target of 294/6. In response, Pakistan was dismissed for a mere 92 runs, securing a 2-1 series win for the West Indies, their first since November 1991.

With this century, Hope achieved his 18th ODI ton, surpassing the legendary Desmond Haynes (17) to rank third among West Indies players for the most ODI centuries, trailing only Chris Gayle (25) and Brian Lara (19).

Pakistan chose to bowl first and struck early, with Naseem Shah dismissing Brandon King for five runs within the first 15 balls. Evin Lewis (37) and Keacy Carty (17) managed to add 47 runs for the second wicket before Abrar took Lewis out in the 14th over.

Coming in at number four, Hope anchored the innings, forming partnerships of 45 runs with Sherfane Rutherford (15) and 64 runs with Roston Chase (36).

Justin Greaves (43 not out) joined Hope when the West Indies were at 184-6 in 41.5 overs, and together they forged a crucial 110-run unbeaten partnership.

The West Indies accelerated in the final overs, scoring 119 runs in the last 10 overs, hitting 11 fours and five sixes to achieve the highest team total of the series.

For Pakistan, Naseem and Abrar each took two wickets, while Saim and Nawaz claimed one wicket each.

In their chase of 294, Pakistan crumbled to 92 all out in just 29.2 overs. Seales' remarkable figures of 6-18 in 7.2 overs marked the third-best bowling performance in ODIs for the West Indies and the best against Pakistan in this format, featuring a stunning four-wicket burst that left the visitors reeling at 23-4 within 8.2 overs.

Salman Ali Agha (30) and Hasan Nawaz (13) provided a brief respite for Pakistan, but once Gudakesh Motie stumped Nawaz, the innings fell apart. From a precarious 61-5 in 19.3 overs, Pakistan lost their last five wickets for just 31 runs.
