West Indies Fined for Slow Over-Rate

The West Indies women's cricket team has incurred a penalty of 10% of their match fee due to a slow over-rate during their opening ODI against Australia held in St. Kitts on Friday.

Captain Hayley Matthews admitted to the violation and accepted the fine, eliminating the need for a formal hearing, as stated on the ICC's official website.

The penalty was enforced by Reon King from the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees after it was determined that the team fell short by two overs, even after accounting for time allowances.

The charge was brought forth by on-field umpires Lauren Agenbag and Candace La Borde, along with third umpire Jacquline Williams and fourth umpire Maria Abbott.

In this match, Australia secured a convincing victory by 103 runs, showcasing a robust all-around performance.

With this win, Australia has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series, having previously won the second ODI by 90 runs on Sunday.

Player of the Match Georgia Wareham (3 wickets for 29 runs) and fellow spinner Ash Gardner (3 wickets for 34 runs) played pivotal roles as the West Indies were bowled out for a mere 179 runs at Warner Park.
