Safe Return of West Indies Team

Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced that all players and members of the Team Management Unit from the West Indies squad participating in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in India have returned home without incident. This announcement follows difficulties related to the cancellation of charter flights organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC), which were resolved through successful commercial travel arrangements made over the past week.

Acknowledgment and Gratitude

In their official communication, CWI stated, "As of Saturday, all players and members of the Team Management Unit who were part of the West Indies Men's squad at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in India have safely returned home."

"After facing challenges with the cancellation of charter flights coordinated by the ICC, commercial travel was arranged for the squad members earlier this week. The last group of players and support staff completed their journeys in the past few days and have now safely reached their respective homes," the statement further elaborated.

CWI expressed heartfelt thanks to the ICC, regional cricket boards, and other partners who played a role in ensuring the team's safe return.

Issues with Charter Flight Arrangements

Previously, CWI had to secure commercial travel for the West Indies squad in India due to ongoing delays in the charter flight arrangements organized by the ICC.

CWI explained that travel and accommodation for teams during both the men's and women's ICC World Cups are typically managed by the ICC. However, the charter flight meant to transport both the West Indies and South Africa teams faced repeated delays.

The West Indies squad remained in India for nine days after their matches, waiting for travel confirmations. CWI noted that the uncertainty surrounding the ICC's charter flight, exacerbated by global tensions and aviation regulations, created a stressful situation for players and support staff.
