West Bengal's New Initiatives Under BJP Leadership
The West Bengal government has decided to implement the Ayushman Bharat scheme along with other key welfare initiatives from the central government across the state. This announcement was made by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari following the inaugural cabinet meeting of the newly formed BJP government at Nabanna on Monday. The Chief Minister emphasized that the new journey of good governance, security, and a dual-engine government in West Bengal will align with the developmental paths adopted by other BJP-ruled states in the country. He reiterated the government's commitment to the ideals of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and the principle of 'for the people, by the people, of the people.' The new state cabinet expressed gratitude and congratulations to the voters of West Bengal, the administration, and all involved in the electoral process for conducting free, fair, and violence-free elections after a long time.
Government Honors Martyrs
The government also paid tribute to the 321 martyrs of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The Chief Minister assured that the government stands firmly with their families and will take strict action against those involved in political killings. Prioritizing border security, the government has approved the process of allocating necessary land to the BSF, directing the Chief Secretary and the Land and Land Reforms Department to complete the process within 45 days.
Additionally, the West Bengal government has officially decided to join the Ayushman Bharat scheme. The health secretary and advisors from the Chief Minister's office have been instructed to finalize the necessary agreements with the central health ministry as soon as possible.
Implementation of Central Government Schemes
The process of actively implementing major central government schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Bima Yojana, PM Shri Yojana, Vishwakarma Yojana, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Yojana, and Ujjwala Yojana, has already begun in the state. District magistrates have been directed to promptly forward all applications to the relevant central ministries. Under administrative reforms, state IAS officers will now participate in training programs of the central government, aligning with practices adopted in other states, as stated in the release. The government has also decided to fully align West Bengal with the provisions of the Indian Justice Code (BNS).
To enhance employment opportunities for educated youth, the upper age limit for government job applications has been increased by five years.
