West Bengal Chief Minister Visits ISKCON Temple for Blessings and Strengthens Border Security
Chief Minister's Spiritual Visit
On Thursday, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari visited the ISKCON temple in Mayapur, Nadia district, to perform cow worship and seek blessings. Speaking to a news outlet, he described this visit as part of his ongoing spiritual activities since taking office. He expressed his desire to visit the ISKCON temple for blessings after having toured several temples since his swearing-in.
Warm Welcome from ISKCON Officials
During his visit, Yudhishthir Govinda Das, the trustee and national director of communications for ISKCON, welcomed the Chief Minister and emphasized their long-standing relationship. He noted that Adhikari has been a supporter and devotee of the organization for many years, expressing joy at his presence less than a month after assuming office.
Strengthening Border Security
Separately, on Wednesday, Adhikari announced that the state government has initiated significant measures to enhance border security by constructing Border Security Force (BSF) outposts and installing barbed wire fencing. He revealed that additional land has been allocated to the BSF, increasing the total area to 142.79 acres. In a post on social media, he stated that the West Bengal government is committed to bolstering security in border areas through these developments.
Land Allocation for BSF
According to the data shared by Adhikari, Murshidabad district received the largest allocation of 38.805 acres, followed by Jalpaiguri with 35.165 acres and Cooch Behar with 22.95 acres. The post detailed the distribution of land allocated to the BSF across nine districts: Cooch Behar (22.95 acres), Jalpaiguri (35.165 acres), Darjeeling (8.815 acres), North Dinajpur (2.84 acres), South Dinajpur (20.1701 acres), Malda (10.90 acres), Murshidabad (38.805 acres), Nadia (0.55 acres), and North 24 Parganas (2.6 acres).
