Cabinet Restructuring in West Bengal

On Wednesday, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari of West Bengal distributed departmental responsibilities among his cabinet ministers. He appointed Swapna Dasgupta to oversee the Finance Department and Tapas Roy to manage the Industry and Commerce Department, while retaining control of the crucial Home Ministry. Suvendu will continue to oversee significant departments, including Hill Affairs, Land and Land Reforms, Refugee Relief and Rehabilitation, Power, Information and Cultural Affairs, as well as Personnel and Administrative Reforms. Additionally, departments not assigned to other ministers will also remain under his purview.


Agni Mitra Paul, who previously managed the Women and Child Development and Social Welfare Department, has now been assigned the Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Department. Deepak Barman will take charge of School Education, Housing, MSME, and Textiles, while Sharadwat Mukherjee will oversee Health and Family Welfare. Shankar Ghosh will serve as the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Tourism; Arjun Singh has been given the Labor and Transport Departments, and Gauri Shankar Ghosh will handle the Welfare of Backward Classes, Public Education Expansion, and Library Services. Among the state ministers with independent charge, Malati Rava Roy will be the Minister for Women and Child Development and Social Welfare, while Indranil Khan will manage Youth Services and Sports as well as Consumer Affairs.
