A recent incident in Madhya Pradesh exemplifies this, where a wedding was abruptly canceled after two rounds of rituals, leaving the groom to return without the bride.

Incident in Gwalior

In the village of Odila, located in Gwalior's Isagarh, a wedding ceremony was underway, which was unexpectedly halted by the families involved. Preparations for the wedding had been ongoing for two months, and the groom's party had already arrived. Despite the couple being present and several rituals taking place, the ceremony could not be completed, resulting in its cancellation. Following this, both families began to blame each other for the failed union.

Cancellation After Two Rituals

According to the bride's family, the wedding venue was beautifully decorated, and both the bride and groom were present. The rituals commenced but were only completed for two rounds before the bride's family called off the wedding. They claimed that the couple shared the same lineage, which made them akin to siblings, thus invalidating the marriage. The bride's family insisted that the couple's gotra was the same, leading to the cancellation.

Dispute Over Wedding Arrangements

The groom's family refuted the bride's family's allegations, stating that they did not arrive in a jeep or bus, which was a point of contention. Instead, they brought the wedding party in a truck and tractor, which the bride's family found unacceptable. Following the cancellation, the matter escalated to the police station for resolution. The bride's family also removed all the dowry items from the vehicle after the wedding was called off.
