Weather Update: Heavy Rains Expected Across Multiple States Until July 15

Weather Conditions Across India
Residents of Bengaluru experienced a refreshing start to their day on July 10, enjoying cool, cloudy weather ideal for outdoor activities. In contrast, regions in Tamil Nadu, interior Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Arunachal Pradesh faced thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rainfall in southern Peninsular India, including Kerala, Mahe, and Lakshadweep, over the upcoming week.
The latest bulletin from the IMD indicates that rainy weather will persist through the weekend in Northeast and Northwest India. A warning has been issued for heavy rainfall in East and Central India, which could result in traffic disruptions. Areas likely to be affected include Madhya Pradesh (July 10–15), Vidarbha (July 10–11), Chhattisgarh (July 10–11, 14 & 15), Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim (July 10 & 13), Gangetic West Bengal (July 10 & 14), Jharkhand (July 10), and Odisha (July 9 and July 13–15).
On Wednesday evening, heavy rain struck the Delhi-NCR region around 7 PM, causing waterlogging and traffic congestion in various locations. The cooler temperatures provided a welcome break from the oppressive heat and humidity. However, the waterlogged streets, particularly in Delhi, Gurugram, and Noida, created challenges for commuters. The IMD forecasts that light to moderate rain will persist until the weekend.
The weather department has issued alerts for severe downpours in East Rajasthan and Uttarakhand from July 10 to 15, as well as in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh on July 10. Himachal Pradesh is expected to see rain on July 10 and again from July 13 to 15, while West Uttar Pradesh will experience rain from July 10 to 13. Residents are urged to exercise caution and take necessary precautions, including checking for traffic conditions before heading out.
