Wall Collapse in Thane's Residential Society Causes Damage to Vehicles
Incident Overview
In Thane, Maharashtra, a wall from a residential society in the Wagle Estate area collapsed onto vehicles parked along the roadside. An official reported this incident on Saturday.
The collapse occurred on Friday night, but fortunately, there were no reports of injuries.
Yasin Tadvi from the disaster management cell stated, 'We received information about the wall collapse at 10:41 PM at the Hiramoto Nagar Society located in Shivaji Nagar, Kisan Nagar No. 1. The wall, approximately 40 feet long and 8 feet high, fell onto vehicles parked on the street.'
Damage Assessment
Tadvi further explained that the remaining part of the wall was in a precarious condition.
'Upon arrival, it was observed that several vehicles were damaged due to the collapse, and the remaining structure posed a serious threat to public safety,' he added.
Personnel from the Shrinagar police station, fire department, disaster management cell, Thane Municipal Corporation's anti-encroachment department, and Mahavitaran were dispatched to the scene.
Emergency Response
'Firefighters, equipped with a fire truck and rescue vehicles, initiated an emergency operation with the assistance of disaster management personnel and a JCB machine,' Tadvi noted.
He mentioned that the debris was promptly cleared, and all affected vehicles were removed from the site. Subsequently, the severely damaged section of the wall was demolished using the JCB.
The damaged vehicles included one car, two auto-rickshaws, two small tempos, and two two-wheelers.
