Late Sunday night, a wall of an abandoned house in Thane, Maharashtra, collapsed, as reported by local authorities. Fortunately, there were no injuries or casualties during the incident.
Details of the Collapse
Yasin Tadvi, the head of the disaster management cell in Thane Municipal Corporation, stated that the wall of a single-story building in the Lokmanya-Savarkar Nagar area fell at approximately 1:58 AM. A nearby resident alerted the disaster management control room about the situation.
Building Condition
The structure, which was around 20 years old, had been vacant for the past seven to eight years. Officials noted that it was not listed among the dangerous structures identified by the municipal corporation.
Response and Safety Measures
Following the report, local police, disaster management teams, fire department personnel, municipal officials, and electricity department representatives arrived at the scene. To ensure safety, barriers were erected around the area. The wall that collapsed was deemed hazardous, and the remaining unstable parts of the structure were demolished using a JCB machine.
