Voting Underway in Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry: PM Modi Urges Participation
Voting Process Commences in Three States
Today marks the commencement of the voting process for assembly elections in three regions: Assam, Kerala, and the Union Territory of Puducherry. On this significant occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called upon voters, particularly the youth and women, to actively participate in this democratic celebration. Demonstrating his commitment to inclusive politics and respect for regional languages, the Prime Minister issued messages in English, Assamese, Malayalam, and Tamil.
He specifically encouraged young people and women to step forward and cast their votes.
Prime Minister's Appeal for Voter Participation
In a post on 'X', he stated, "As voting begins for the Assam assembly elections 2026, I urge the people of Assam to exercise their voting rights in large numbers. I hope that the youth and women voters of the state will participate enthusiastically and make this election a celebration of democracy and civic duty."
While addressing the people of Kerala, he emphasized that high voter turnout would further strengthen the state's democratic spirit. He remarked, "I particularly request the youth and women of the state to come forward and vote in large numbers."
Encouragement for Puducherry Voters
The Prime Minister also urged every voter in Puducherry to participate in record numbers. He stated, "I specifically appeal to our youth and women voters to strengthen the democratic process. Every vote is crucial in shaping the future of Puducherry."
Voting is taking place for 126 assembly seats in Assam, 140 in Kerala, and 30 in Puducherry. In the Puducherry assembly, candidates are elected by public votes for 30 seats, while three members are appointed by the central government.
