Sasikala Expresses Disappointment Over Budget
VK Sasikala, the expelled general secretary of the AIADMK's Amma Peravai branch, voiced her dissatisfaction with the 2026 Union Budget on Tuesday, highlighting the lack of changes in personal income tax slabs as a letdown for the public. After paying tribute at the memorial of former Chief Minister M. G. Ramachandran at Marina Beach in Chennai, she addressed reporters, stating that the people of Tamil Nadu are well aware of who the real traitors and opponents are.
Focus on Legacy and Political Ambitions
Sasikala emphasized her primary goal of restoring the governance of M.G. Ramachandran and J. Jayalalithaa, reflecting the legacy of the party's former leaders. She expressed her intention to follow the path laid out by these leaders in Tamil Nadu. With 39 years of political experience, she vowed to make every effort to defeat the DMK government and remove it from power.
A Call for Change in Governance
She firmly stated that the legacy of M.G. Ramachandran and J. Jayalalithaa, along with her dedicated party workers, will remain steadfast. Earlier, Sasikala launched a sharp critique against the ruling DMK, asserting that the era of dynastic rule in the state will soon come to an end, paving the way for a 'people's government.' In a press conference, she extended New Year wishes to everyone, predicting the end of dynastic governance in Tamil Nadu this year and the rise of a government that truly represents the people. She pointed out that numerous criminal incidents, such as the Tiruttani attack, have occurred since the DMK came to power, questioning the effectiveness of the Chief Minister, who oversees the police department, for not responding to these incidents, which reflects a lack of governance capability.
