Vivian Kubrick's Criticism of TPUSA

This week, Turning Point USA (TPUSA) faced backlash after Vivian Kubrick, the daughter of the iconic filmmaker Stanley Kubrick, publicly criticized the organization and its new leader, Erika Kirk.

Details of Kubrick's Remarks

Kubrick took to social media platform X to express her disapproval of a pre-recorded video message from Erika Kirk, who spoke to TPUSA supporters about faith and her late husband's legacy during the "Make Heaven Crowded" tour at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas.

She described Kirk's address as "ghastly" and "inauthentic," even urging former President Trump to dismantle TPUSA, claiming that new, credible voices are essential to engage American youth ahead of the upcoming midterm elections.

TPUSA's Response

In response, TPUSA did not hold back. A representative from the organization expressed confusion over who Kubrick was, stating they had to research her background. They referred to her as the "seemingly estranged" daughter of the renowned director who has embraced Scientology and labeled her as part of what they termed the "Candace cult," likely referencing commentator Candace Owens. The representative suggested that Kubrick's mindset mirrored those attacking Kirk and her husband's legacy, concluding with a comment that they hoped she would seek the help she needs.

Kubrick has previously acknowledged that Scientology played a significant role in her life during the 1990s, as per her social media posts.

Additional Context

Erika Kirk assumed the role of TPUSA's CEO following the tragic death of her husband, conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot during a speaking engagement at Utah Valley University on September 10. Since taking the helm, she has voiced concerns about what she perceives as a rising culture of dehumanization in the United States.

Her worries intensified after an incident at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner on April 25, where she was evacuated due to an armed individual attempting to breach the ballroom housing President Trump and other officials. The suspect, Cole Tomas Allen, 31, was subsequently charged with attempted assassination, among other offenses. This incident marked the third alleged assassination attempt against the former president.

In a video shared on X shortly after the event, Kirk reflected on the implications of prolonged dehumanization, stating that dehumanizing individuals can lead to the belief that others do not deserve to exist.
