Hockey India has extended its congratulations to star midfielder Vivek Sagar Prasad for reaching a remarkable milestone of 200 senior international matches with the Indian men's hockey team. Vivek accomplished this feat during India's third Pool A match against South Korea at the ongoing Asian Games 2026 in Japan. At just 26 years old, Vivek made his senior international debut in 2018 and has become a vital player for the Indian squad, known for his composure, versatility, and ability to perform in critical situations.
A Distinguished Career
Throughout his career, Vivek has participated in numerous significant tournaments, including India's historic bronze medal wins at the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympic Games, as highlighted in a press release from Hockey India. He was also instrumental in the Indian team's gold medal victory at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou and secured a bronze medal at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta. Additionally, he earned a silver medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and another at the 2018 Champions Trophy in Breda. Vivek's accolades also feature two gold medals from the Hero Asian Champions Trophy, where he contributed to India's title wins in 2023 and 2024.
