Guruvayur Temple Launches Virtual Queue for Devotees

Thrissur, August 4: Devotees visiting the renowned Guruvayur Sri Krishna Temple can now take advantage of a virtual queue system for their darshan. This initiative, aimed at reducing crowding and minimizing the long wait times faced by visitors, was launched on a trial basis by the Guruvayur Devaswom on Tuesday.

According to A.V. Gopinath, the president of Guruvayur Devaswom, the virtual queue will be available for devotees on Tuesdays and Thursdays as part of this trial. Each day will offer eight time slots, allowing 300 devotees per slot, which means a total of 2,400 people can have darshan daily through the online booking system.

Gopinath expressed optimism that this initiative would significantly ease the difficulties faced by devotees who often have to wait in long lines to enter the temple. He mentioned that if the trial proves successful, the Devaswom plans to implement this service daily.

The president noted that this system would be particularly beneficial during the upcoming Onam festival and other peak pilgrimage times. Temple administration has stated that devotees who book their darshan online must arrive at the temple at their designated time, making the process more convenient and hassle-free. The virtual queue will operate for eight hours each day.

Previously, Guruvayur Devaswom announced in a Facebook post that bookings for the virtual queue in August were already full, and online reservations for September would commence soon. Devotees can book their time slots on the Guruvayur Devaswom website.
