Controversial Confrontation at UGA

A video has gained significant traction on social media, alleging misconduct by a professor at the University of Georgia in Athens. The footage, shared on February 24, 2026, features members of Street Sweeperz TV, a group known for confronting suspected predators, entering a calculus class and accusing the professor of inappropriate messaging with a minor. In the 1.4-minute clip that has circulated widely, the group displays printed chat screenshots as purported evidence, while shocked students observe the unfolding situation.

The professor, reportedly named Antonio Alfieri, appears visibly distressed in the video and acknowledges having made a mistake. According to the official UGA website, Alfieri holds the position of Limited Term Assistant Professor in the mathematics department. On his Rate My Professor profile, several students have recounted troubling experiences. One comment from February 25 states: “This guy really wanted me to come outside of class for extra credit. Even though I had a 100, he insisted that I come over to his house for ‘special’ study time. He even went out of his way to add me on Snap and would consistently beg me to come over on weekends. I’m 14.”

As of now, UGA has not issued a statement regarding these allegations. The identity of the professor in the video has not been officially verified, and the authenticity of the claims against him remains unconfirmed. This incident has also led some online users to recall a previous case from 2021 involving a former UGA professor. James Edward Monogan III, aged 39, was sentenced to 90 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to possessing child pornography. Investigators discovered numerous illicit images and videos on his devices, including material involving minors under 12. He was mandated to register as a sex offender for life and is to serve 10 years of supervised release.
