A wedding celebration in the village of Hussainpur, located in the Kunwarganj police jurisdiction of Badaun district, turned chaotic due to a dispute over the wedding gift, known as 'neg'. Reports indicate that a group of transgender individuals arrived in a Bolero vehicle and, following a heated argument, opened fire, injuring the groom's cousin.
According to sources, the wedding procession was from the village of Kathra Khagei in the Moosajhag police area, where the bride's father, Prem Singh, was hosting the event. On Thursday morning, the transgender group arrived to collect their customary gift. A disagreement arose between the wedding guests and the transgender individuals regarding the amount, escalating into a serious conflict.
Witnesses reported that as tensions rose, the transgender group retrieved a firearm from their vehicle and fired four to five rounds. This caused panic among the attendees. During the incident, a 21-year-old named Gaurav, son of Yogendra and the groom's cousin, was struck by a bullet and sustained injuries.
Police Response and Arrests
Upon receiving news of the incident, law enforcement quickly arrived at the scene to restore order. They apprehended one suspect from the transgender group and seized a firearm from their possession. The injured individual was transported to the district hospital for medical treatment.
According to police officials, additional weapons, including sticks and the Bolero vehicle, were also confiscated. A case has been registered, and efforts are underway to locate the other suspects involved in the incident.
