Incident Overview

In a village located in Bhadohi district, a Dalit couple and their family were reportedly assaulted with sticks and rods by a group of individuals. This information was confirmed by a police official on Sunday.


Details of the Attack

The incident occurred on Friday morning in the Unj police station area, where Deepak Kumar Pasi complained to local resident Rajaram Yadav about livestock damaging his urad crop on the land he had taken on lease.


Motivation Behind the Assault

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhimanyu Manglik, Yadav and his family became enraged by the complaint and attacked Deepak, hurling caste-based slurs at him while using sticks and rods.


Victims' Condition

The SP reported that Deepak's wife was dragged by her hair and beaten in the fields, and the attackers also assaulted Deepak's relatives who tried to intervene. Both Deepak and his wife were admitted to the hospital, while four other family members sustained minor injuries.


Police Response

After the incident, the victims approached the police station to file a complaint but were sent away without any action. Subsequently, the affected family appealed to the Superintendent of Police on Saturday. SP Manglik stated that a case has been registered, and the investigation has been assigned to Police Circle Officer Chaman Singh Chawda.
