Violence Erupts in Manipur: Naga Village Attacked, Homes Set Ablaze
Attack on Naga Village in Manipur
In a troubling incident in the Kangpokpi district of Manipur, officials reported that nine houses were destroyed during an attack on a Naga village. The assault occurred at Tokpa Liangmai Naga village around 9:30 PM on Tuesday.
According to reports, armed individuals opened fire before setting ablaze nine structures, primarily made of temporary materials. Local residents from surrounding villages quickly arrived to assist in extinguishing the flames.
To manage the escalating situation, additional security forces have been dispatched to the area.
The Liangmai Naga Council of Manipur has condemned the attack, asserting that members of another community were responsible. They claimed that the assault resulted in the destruction of ten homes and a church.
In a statement, the council described the targeting of innocent civilians and their properties, including a place of worship, as a serious and unacceptable act of violence.
The Naga organization has called for the swift arrest and prosecution of those involved in the arson and has urged for enhanced security measures in the region.
